Chapter History

A group of 12 professionals in the Greensboro, North Carolina area took the initiative to become involved with NABA by joining the organization in 2014. These professionals are not only members, they are also committed to NABA’s motto, “Lifting As We Climb.” As they progress in their careers (reaching up), they are committed to “reaching down” by mentoring college students in the Greensboro area and assisting with professional development and career-goal achievement.

Since September 2014, these Greensboro members have established relationships with Winston-Salem State University and North Carolina A&T State University through mentoring, “Straight Talk” sessions, seminars, and social events. More importantly, they have helped educate students on how to transition into the workforce after college.

Beginning in October 2014, the group worked diligently to establish the Greensboro NABA chapter, which was officially approved by the NABA National Board of Directors and members on March 21, 2015. The Greensboro NABA chapter is the first professional chapter to be approved in six years. The chapter is now part of the Southern Region under the leadership of Justin Butler. Karla Munden, Senior Vice President of Internal Audit at Lincoln Financial Group, has been extremely supportive and was the primary contributor to the launch of the new chapter.
