I am a first-generation, internationally qualified accountant with over nine years of experience in Finance, Accounting, and risk management. I have spent considerable time working for government entities in Kenya, utilizing IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards) to streamline accounting and reporting processes. Currently, I work with Habitat for Humanity as an Accounts Payable Specialist based in Renton, Washington, with various other roles assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
Education
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking from Kenya, along with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification from the same country. Currently, I am pursuing my Master's in Accounting & Analytics from Seattle University, an opportunity that has broadened my horizons and exposed me to diverse cultures.
Leadership Roles
My passion for the accounting profession and service to humanity led me to volunteer at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Kenya, both at the council and branch levels, for over five years. I held these positions until the time I decided to move to the United States for higher education. In the year 2021, I was awarded a commendation by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) for the immense contribution to the success of accountancy profession. Additionally, I was recently awarded the prestigious Washington CPA Foundation Scholarship, a recognition for my dedication to the profession and service to the community.
Future Aspirations
Looking ahead, I plan to take the CPA exams in the United States with the goal of joining the public accounting practice. This aspiration is deeply motivated by my passion to support businesses and individuals at every level as a professional accountant, contributing to the betterment of humanity through my expertise.
Other Life Interests
When I'm not immersed in numbers and giving back to the community, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. I have a love for games, and during my leisure time, I enjoy watching sports, particularly sprinting events.
