Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program

As we embark upon a new year, a new tax season will be well underway very soon! Every year, our local NABA chapter works with an IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to aid local community organizations to offer free tax help to low and moderate-income individuals and families that need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

The DC EITC Campaign (sponsored by Community Tax Aid) is working hard to provide free tax preparation services and connect low-income and moderate-income metropolitan area residents to asset building opportunities. Last year, over hundreds of volunteers helped file thousands of returns, claiming millions in tax refunds for DC residents as well as connecting many of those residents to other free financial resources!

The Campaign and Community Tax Aid (CTA) are in need of volunteers for the 2019 tax season and registration is now open! You can retrieve additional information about this opportunity at CTA's website (http://www.communitytaxaiddc.org/volunteers-3/). If you have any questions, feel free to contact the DC Metro Chapter's VITA Coordinators - Nikki Akinyeye and Andrea Smith (vita@nabametrodc.org) for more information.
