NABA Richmond History

The Richmond Metropolitan Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. was organized and revitalized in February, 1989 to unite accountants and accounting students with similar interests and ideas. In April 2022, The Richmond chapter consolidated with the national organization under the ONENABA framework. This framework brings about a more united vision, direction, and coordinated plan of execution, streamlined business functions and activities, as well as additional robust programming.

Our history can only be completed with the inclusion of our student chapters. In 1991 we assumed the responsibility for providing support for Hampton University and Norfolk State University. In addition, chapters were established at Virginia
State University and Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute. In 1992 Elizabeth City State
University joined our family of student chapters. In 1993 we were successful in establishing a chapter at the University of
Virginia. In 2020, the Old Dominion University chapter was chartered. Many of our students have received various local,
regional, and national scholarships. It is with great pride that we continue our support of and relationship with them.

The Richmond Metropolitan Chapter is part of the Eastern Region.
