Holding true to NABA's motto of "Lifting As We Climb," community service is a vital component of NABA Tampa Bay's success. Our chapter's objective is: (1) to provide outreach to the community through grassroots efforts and partnering with other community based organizations; (2) to increase attendance and membership participation by both professionals and students at community service events; and (3) to work with NABA sponsors to assist in providing volunteer opportunities for members.

Our current volunteer opportunities include:

IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program:
  • From February 20120 through April 2020
  • The VITA program provided free income tax assistance to 13,000+ low-to-moderate income households throughout the Tampa Bay area. This equated to $12M in refunds, along with saving clients ~$2M in tax preparation fees at VITA sites where our members volunteered.

Other Community Service Programs
  • Financial Empowerment Seminars
  • Black History Month Programming
Participation in various community initiatives with other non-profit organizations
  • Metropolitan Ministries
  • United Way Suncoast
