Career and Personal Development

NABA St. Louis provides members with training, guidance and opportunities to develop their soft skills. The underlying programs seek to provide the necessary knowledge and information on how to improve career progression for members with the goal of C-suite attainment. From personal style definition, to mentoring and coaching through identification of sponsors and advocates to gender-specific needs in the workplace.

Membership Happy Hours/Mixers
The St. Louis chapter periodically hosts happy hours/mixers to encourage members to network. These social events aim to  create connections and lasting relationships through social interaction in a relaxed atmosphere. Happy hours/mixers are also open to professionals that aren't members of the chapter as well.

Additional programs include:

  • NABA Career Services: A program aimed at supporting members identify career needs, potential employers and skills necessary to achieve career goals. This program leverages NABA's vast network of professionals and relationships with local companies to facilitate the matching of members with companies. See our Job Postings.
  • Mix and Mingle: These activities seek to create connections and lasting relationships through social interaction. Held periodically and in a socio-professional setting, members, friends, mentors and/or protégées all meet and interact in a relaxed atmosphere. Personal or professional development sessions also take place at these sessions.

NABA mentoring program aims to match students and professionals with "coaches" and "sponsors" who will help develop and advocate for them respectively. By leveraging social interaction, we are able to provide a forum for a "natural matching" between those involved as against assigned mentors. The goal of this program is to attract minority students to the field of accounting through the combined efforts of NABA's professional and student chapter members, accounting faculty at designated area colleges/universities. Emphasis is placed on establishing a mentoring relationship, providing academic guidance, support and other services to ensure the personal and professional development of minority accounting students.
