The Philadelphia Chapter of NABA began in November 1973, when approximately 50 individuals met to discuss forming a local chapter. As an outgrowth of that meeting, 27 individuals worked tirelessly towards this goal and the chapter was chartered at its First Annual Awards Banquet in February 1974. 

Currently, the Philadelphia Chapter boasts a membership of over 200 professional members. Student members are affiliated with the Chapter through at-large membership, as well as 10 student chapters at area colleges and universities. Student chapters are actively being chartered on an annual basis.

The NABA Philadelphia Chapter, like all other chapters across the nation, are 100% volunteer lead. All of our board members have full time careers and commit to running this organization before, sometimes during, and after work to ensure our mission of "Lifting As We Climb" is achieved each and every day. Although there are no paid staff for the chapter, we take our roles in this organization with great passionate and work with members and corporate partners to achieve in-kind goals.

NABA Philadelphia has been working hard to adapt to conditions presented by the COVID-19 pandemic by holding meaningful events in a virtual environment. While we miss seeing our members at in-person events, we are committed to holding events via virtual format until the pandemic shows signs of slowing down. NABA Philadelphia is hoping to make an in-person return to events, starting in January 2022. Chapter leadership will continually monitor case count and evaluate safety levels for events with our corporate partners. Our return to in-person events will include having to complete a COVID-19 waiver in order to gain entry to events. We will not require individuals to be vaccinated, but we would ask for your consideration in not attending in-person events if you experience any COVID-related symptoms or have been exposed to anyone with COVID-like symptoms in the days leading up to the event.

Interested In Becoming A Member of NABA Philadelphia?
You can join the organization by becoming a paid member. There are several types of membership available, including student, professional, academic advisor, and lifetime status. All membership dues payments must be paid at www.nabainc.org. By paying your dues, you become a member on a national level, but you will be considered a NABA Philadelphia member on the local level. Membership allows access to special events, discounted pricing for the annual national and regional conventions and so much more!
