What is the summer residency?
The primary objective of ACAP is to increase the understanding of accounting and finance career opportunities among high school students from underrepresented ethnic groups. Through ACAP‘s efforts, students receive educational enrichment and practical help for college preparation and a career in accounting. The annual program is held during the summer at a local college campus and is scheduled this fiscal year for June 26, 2022 through July 2, 2022.

The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP)
The ACAP program is a one-week program for high school students interested in a career in business. Held at a local college or university, the program introduces students to accounting, finance, economics and management through a focused, undergraduate-level program taught by college faculty and guest lecturers from business and government. During the week, students have the opportunity to attend classes on careers in accounting and business, personal development and college preparation and tour college campuses, local companies, and CPA firms. The program concludes with the students inviting their parent(s) or guardian(s) to a banquet in commemoration of their completion of the program at the end of the week.

Who can apply to the program?
The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) is a career development program for minority high school students. In order to be eligible, an application, a current copy of your academic transcript and at least two counselor/teacher letters of recommendation must be received by the deadline, which is Friday, March 25, 2022 for this fiscal year. To view the ACAP Brochure, click here.

These initiatives seek to increase the number of accounting and finance related college students measured through increase in college enrollment specifically in accounting, finance, business, technology and related disciplines. These initiatives were established primarily to provide awareness, encouragement and a mentoring relationship to Philadelphia area high school students. Emphasis is placed on getting the students involved to understand the importance of: staying in school, developing good study habits, graduating from high school and obtaining a higher education (college degree). These initiatives stand as one of the Chapter's most formidable challenges and rewarding endeavors.
