About ACAP

Accelerated/Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP), focuses on accounting and other business careers such as entrepreneurship, IT, human resources, engineering, marketing, etc. for high school students (freshmen through seniors). ACAP is a unique pipeline from high school to college, one that allows students to become prepared and informed about the expectations of college life and beyond. Through mentoring, we help them not only to matriculate to college but also teach them how to succeed in college through a mentoring initiative.

ACAP® helps build future Black Business Leaders, with a focus on directing them to majoring in accounting, finance and its related business fields, by offering year-round programming and resources including college tours, internship opportunities, college and career readiness, and a one-week residency at a college or university.

During the FREE week-long summer campus residency program, a select group of students can explore careers in accounting, finance and business-related fields via a rigorous class and study schedule, college-level content, and valuable networking opportunities. ACAP® introduces underrepresented high school students to accounting, finance, economics, technology, and management while providing the foundation of financial literacy as well as the development of interpersonal skills. Prominent business leaders share their knowledge, provide tips for success, and discuss career opportunities.

ACAP Chicago was founded in 2005 to increase the understanding of accounting and business career opportunities among high school minority youth in Chicagoland school systems.
