NABA Chicago events offer valuable networking and mentoring opportunities with peers and other industry leaders.
These initiatives focus on providing members with training, guidance and opportunities to develop their soft skills. The underlying programs seek to provide the necessary knowledge and information on how to improve career progression for members with the goal of c-suite attainment. From personal style definition, to mentoring and coaching through identification of sponsors and advocates to gender-specific needs in the workplace. These initiatives also include the following programs;
- NABA Career Services: A program aimed at supporting members identify career needs, potential employers and skills necessary to achieve career goals. This program leverages NABA's vast network of professionals and relationships with local companies to facilitate the matching of members with companies. See our Job Postings.
- Chapter Events: Some events held by the chapter provide CPE credits as well as the opportunity to volunteer and network.
- CPA Review Program: Passing the CPA Exam is not just a rite of passage in the accounting profession but also a major stepping-stone for your career, opening doors to new job opportunities. NABA is partnering with Wiley to provide a CPA review program to help you efficiently prepare for and pass the CPA Exam.
- eLearning: Strategic learning to fit your schedule. The partnership between NABA and the Business Learning Institute (BLI) brings the nation’s premier learning and CPE content to your fingerprints. Choose between catalogs of Webcast Courses and On-Demand Course, both at discounted rates for NABA members.
- CPE Sessions: These are directed at providing members with technical skills and competencies to effectively perform their job functions. Topics include accounting, cyber-security, taxation, business and marketing.
- NABA National Convention: NABA's annual national convention held annually and over 3-4 power packed days. The convention provides a national forum for programming, training, and networking while bringing together NABA members, the corporate community, academia, and others interested in promoting the mission and goals of the association. Attendees also have the opportunity to participate in the Career Expo which features a Career Fair where you can learn more about internships and permanent positions and participate in on-site interviews.
NABA mentoring programs aims to match students and professionals with "coaches" and "sponsors" who will help develop and advocate for them respectively. By leveraging social interaction, we are able to provide a forum for a "natural matching" between those involved as against assigned mentors. The goal of these programs are to attract minority students to the field of accounting through the combined efforts of NABA's professional and student chapter members, accounting faculty at designated area colleges/universities. Emphasis is placed on establishing a mentoring relationship, providing academic guidance, support and other services to ensure the personal and professional development of minority accounting students.
